We have had to take the decision to close Woodside School and nursery again tomorrow due to the ongoing outbreak of vomiting. Advice suggests that this approach would be helpful to give both staff and pupils the opportunity to recover on Friday and over the weekend.
We intend to open the school and nursery as normal on Monday 10 November. If there are any changes to this we will keep you informed. Apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.
To the Parents/Guardians of children at Woodside Primary School and Nursery
Dear Parent/Guardian
There have recently been a number of children affected with diarrhoea and/ or vomiting. At this time of the year it is common for viral infections to cause these symptoms.
There are simple measures that can be taken to help prevent the spread of infection both at school and in the home which include:
• If you or your child has diarrhoea and/or vomiting, remain at home until 48 hours after the symptoms have settled
• Encourage thorough handwashing particularly after visiting the toilet and before eating or preparing any food. Further information on handwashing, including children’s songs and games, can be found at www.washyourhandsofthem.com/
• If you have any concerns regarding you or your child’s illness, contact your GP
• If symptoms persist for longer than 48 hours please contact your GP who will arrange for appropriate samples to be taken
Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
Yours faithfully
Emmanuel Okpo
