Today we are looking forward to singing with our new singing teacher – Mr Thomson. He has been teaching us lots of catchy songs and dance moves!
This morning we were delighted to welcome Fiona-Jane Brown into our class. Fiona has volunteered to work with the school in the promotion of the Scots language, as a writer and storyteller she is keen to use her skills within the classroom. We really enjoyed listening to and acting out her stories. We heard the tale of Jack – who didna hiv much common sense and then the story of how midges came to be!
Last week we took a class trip to a restaurant -Jamie’s Italian on Union Street. In class we have been looking at healthy eating so we were very lucky to get to see how a real restaurant works.
We were looked after by Anna one of the managers. She talked to us about the history of the building and the story behind Jamie Oliver restaurants. We tasted their homemade lemonade, which woke up our tastebuds!
Johan the chef then showed us how to make bread. We all made a small ciabatta which we took home to enjoy. He then introduced us to lots of interesting vegetables which we tasted, he impressed us with his knife skills.
We rounded off the visit with some delicious pasta and salads, we enjoyed the feast!
Room 12 have had a busy start to the last term of Primary 5. We really enjoyed welcoming parents and carers into our class for our Open Morning. It was a busy event which the children enjoyed hosting. We showcased our learning, particularly looking at Healthy Eating. We will continue our project this term, looking at healthy lifestyles and the human body. Our sports coaching sessions are just ending, the children participated in netball and football. The sessions were great fun and led by enthusiastic coaches. Continuing this theme we have opted to collect items for a sports themed hamper on behalf of the Friends of Woodside. Any donations can be brought into class by Friday 12th June.
