This week we all handed in our Viking creative homework. We were so impressed with the finished results we decided to record our peer assessments. Watch our film and learn more about what we thought of our Viking Longboats.

Our door designs
To celebrate World Book Day, we set all the classes a challenge. Every class had to choose their favourite book and transform their classroom door into the book cover. Classes have worked very hard, over the last few weeks, designing and creating their doors. We think they look amazing, what do you think? We would love to read your comments.
Attack of the Giant Robot Chickens
Our group is the apples we have been reading Attack of the Giant Robot Chickens by Alex Mc Call. The story was about Giant Robot chickens attacking the city of Aberdeen,Jesse is the main character who hatches a plot with Rayna to stop the invasion of the chickens.
The book contained alot of humour including chicken jokes !This book was great because it was set in places we knew.It mentioned Clifton Road where our school is.
We tweeted about the book and the author Alex Mcall tweeted back. We were really excited that he liked our tweet!

Last week at Woodside School was different, Quids in theatre group came to teach some Scots through drama,it was really exciting. We started to focus on “Geordies Mingin Medicine”. On Monday we started some really fun miming, making a medicine machine with an underscore.Later on in the week we started to practise a Bothy Ballad. A Bothy Ballad is a song that gets passed down the family for generations. We learned a Bothy Ballad about “Geordie’s Mingin Medicine” or in translation “George’s Marvelous Medicine”.On Friday we performed our play to the whole School.Primary 5-6 did the “Geordie’s Mingin Medicine”,Primary 3-4 did “The Wee Book o Fairy Tales”. My favourite performance was “The Three Wee Piggies”.

Scots Fairy Tales – Room 17
The ‘Peach’ reading group have been reading ‘A Wee Book o Fairy Tales’ in Scots by Matthew Fitt and James Robertson.
The book contains The Three Wee Pigs, Cinderella, Rumpelstiltskin, Snaw White, The Billy Goats Gruff and Wee Reid Ridin Hood.
We’ve been doing lots of reading activities with the book. We used the question dice to ask each other questions about what we read. We also drew the Scots dwarves – The Big Heid, Greetie, Luggie, Nebbie, Crabbit, Glaikit and Minger! We used our skills in metalinguistics to find out the meaning of Scots words we didn’t know, using a Scots dictionary to help.
Here are some of our thoughts on the book :
I liked that we were learning some new Scots.
The pictures from the book were amazing.
Each chapter was a different fairy tale. I enjoyed the Cinderella story, the mice turn into cuddies!
I liked it having Scots in it. I liked the part that said “Snaw White wis awfy, awfy, feart.”
My favourite part of the book was Rumpelstiltskin, the king said his daughter was beautiful “See my dochter, she’s bonny and she’s braw.”
The book is great, we would recommend it to others.

P5 Book Launch
Morning,
We’re Primary 5 in Room 17. It’s been an exciting week for us we want to tell you all about it!
On Wednesday we all went to Woodside Library. We had invited lots of important people from the Council, our families and the press.
We then talked about the process of getting our books published and how we created them. We held reading sessions where we read to our guests. They loved it, we got some great feedback.
At the end we sold our books and merchandise. If you haven’t bought any yet, come to our Christmas Fair or ask the school for an order form.
Since Wednesday we have been looking at all the posts on twitter about us. Today we learned that John Swinney has read our books- wow!
